IndieMemphis Recap
I had a fantastic time at IndieMemphis for the screening of my short film Hangry. I also had an opportunity to see some fantastic shorts and features. Here are a few pictures from the festival.
And here are some of the stand-out films I saw while at the festival. Obviously, it’s impossible to see everything, and there were definitely several great films I missed out on, but here are the ones I saw that I would recommend:
THE DEAD DON’T DIE
A horror-comedy starring Bill Murray and Adam Driver, The Dead Don’t Die follows a trio of small-town police officers as they battle against a rising zombie hoard.
HARRIET
A powerful biopic centered on Harriet Tubman and her dedication to helping slaves escape to the north via the Underground Railroad.
BORDER SOUTH
To stem the immigration tide, Mexico and the U.S. collaborate to crack down on migrants, forcing them into ever more dangerous territory. A documentary.
LUCKY GRANDMA
Set in New York City’s Chinatown, an ornery, chain-smoking Chinese grandma goes all in at the casino, landing herself on the wrong side of luck - and in the middle of a gang war.
Good Time
A gritty crime drama starring Robert Pattinson as a bank robber who must find a way to get his brother Nick out of jail after a job goes sideways.
